Hi Everyone!

We had our egg retrieval yesterday and 19 eggs were retrieved. 8 of the 19 were mature and fertilized. Of the 8, only 5 made it through the night. I am disappointed because there is still the possibility that we will lose some with the freezing and thawing process. I won’t know how many make it to day 5 until next week. The lab says that they do not disturb the embryos during incubation so I won’t have any idea about what’s happening. I’m freaking out.

Am I freaking out prematurely? Technically, my husband and I don’t have “fertility problems”. My fallopian tubes are blocked and I have conceived naturally before. I thought that this process would be seamless so losing 50% in the first phase is unnerving.

Has anyone had success with numbers similar to or lower than this? I would love to hear your stories.
