When to take away the pacifier?

My baby is now 6 months old. I want to take the pacifier away before it becomes an emotional attachment. She doesn’t use it unless it’s nap time or bed time. It really helps her sleep... I’m not sure if we should just go cold turkey or slowly phase it out?! Anyone else stop the pacifier yet?

Ours didn’t need his once we sleep trained and stopped swaddling. I noticed him spitting it out and not relying on it anymore so I took it away cold turkey

With my first we only got sleep bc if the paci!! With my 2nd she has never taken one.  Just depends on the Baby. My first kept hers till almost 2 and she has no teeth issues

We took our firsts away when he was almost a year and a half. I would have let him keep it until he turned 2 but he was obsessed with them (would have one in his mouth and one in each hand if you let him) and i was starting to see changes in his teeth. We went cold turkey (cut the tip off, he couldn't keep it in his mouth so he lost interest in it and they all disappeared) he was a great sleeper and after maybe a 2 night adjustment he was good without it.

We took it away cold turkey with sleep training. Now he just sleeps without it and shows no need for it during the day!

Babies have the instinct to suck for comfort until around 5.  I took the pacifier from both of my girls at 2 and it was no problem.  If you don’t want to have to deal with it though, I don’t see anything wrong with taking it now.

We are starting sleep training tonight and it says to ditch it cold turkey, so we're going to try. He's waking up several times a night and crying to have it put back in, so for us it makes sense.
