So my uncle made a comment yesterday that sort of caught me off guard. We were talking about kids and working vs staying at home. He said “there’s no point in having kids so you can just hand them off to someone else to raise them! Why would you even have kids?”

I was a little hurt by it because my son is in daycare. I am finishing my bachelors in nursing degree which I’ve realized is more work than any full time job I’ve ever had. But now I feel guilty putting my son in daycare but part of me is like no, mom’s can also have careers and advance themselves. My son is also an only child and daycare is the only socialization he gets with children.

Do you agree with my uncle that it makes no sense to have children if you aren’t going to be a SAHM and raise them yourself? Or do you think it’s totally fine to have children and put them in daycare or have a nanny?
