so....how do i stop breastfeeding?

my son is 10 months old and of course i plan to go until a year but he can go on solids partially through the day but for nap times and night time he won’t sleep (literally refuses) unless breastfed

he also has been waking up for night feedings (he was sleeping through the night for a while from very young but suddenly entered the separation anxiety phase at 9m accompanied by waking up several times a night...)

so my question is how do i stop breastfeeding him, when the time comes? i literally can’t imagine putting him to sleep without the boob. yes on occasion if he breastfed recently and didn’t fall asleep, then became cranky i can just pat him to sleep on my chest but it is a real struggle even when it is successful and usually i end up giving him the boob.

what is the transition like? how do i start? also at the year mark when you can stop breastfeeding/start replacing milk how does that work? when he’d usually want to breastfeed do i give him a warmed bottle of plant milk? (raising him vegan - don’t want comments about cows milk. but i will gladly take recommendations for plant milk! i typically have almond milk in the house for myself)

i know that i should pump and slowly mix milk in the bottle but that’s about it. would a warm bottle replace those times when he’s cranky and wants to breastfeed?

i’m just a little fuzzy on all of it. i will miss breastfeeding but i’m soaking in these last two months and ready to take on the next stage. thanks in advance!
