When would you let your kid spend the night at a family members house ?

A. When they ask to spend the night over a family members house. 
B. When the family ask to have the kid overnight
How did you tell your families about when you’d let your child spend the night? 
I personally want to wait until my kid is potty trained and can verbally communicate. I also wouldn’t force them to go stay somewhere overnight if they didn’t want to.

Honestly, neither. I feel like I won’t be having my kids do overnights until around 10 years old and that’s only IF they want to, and with trusted family. 🤷‍♀️

I won’t be letting my children sleep at anyone’s house till they are old enough to talk to me and let me know if anything made them feel uncomfortable. This is just my personal preference. It’s different for everyone.

My husband and I decided that our daughter will not be spending the night with anyone without one of us there until she is able to understand right and wrong touch and how important it is to tell us if something happens. Our friends son was molested by his cousin for months at both the cousin's house and their grandparents house and while I don't think anyone in our family would do something like that it's just an easy situation to avoid. The only exception I can see is her staying with my mom cause there's no one else there and she doesn't have a bunch of people coming through her house. 
My mom knows our choice. I don't know if my husband has told his family yet but it hasn't come up between them and me.
That being said she'll have a choice in if she stays somewhere or not. I would never make her spend the night somewhere because grandma/grandpa/aunt/uncle/cousin wants her to.

It depends on the family member. My parents, sure because my daughter is cared for by them often and comfortable with them. But, they have watched her overnight in our home. When she is more comfortable with night routines and a different bed then sure she can have a sleepover night at grandma and grandpas. My in laws, probably not because she does not see them as often, so likely not until she is older.

Grandma (the one we trust) has babe over at 3 months. We fully trust her. Literally no one else though. 
Otherwise we’re going to wait until she is potty trained. Unless there is some kind of emergency when my brother and SIL need to watch her. Babe is 7 months now and she’s had a few sleep overs at grandmas - but she’s got a full nursery at her house so she’s set.

Our son had his first sleepover at my parents’ house at 10 months so my husband and I could have a weekend away at a B&B. He’s also stayed at my in-laws’ house overnight. He’a going in two now. Usually he stays when we need a sitter or daycare is closed but we have to work. Sometimes he stays with my parents when they ask because they miss him and he enjoys being there.

Neither. We asked my mom if she would be willing to let us leave her with her. 
We left my daughter with my mom for one night when she was about one. We rented an AirBnB in the same town my parents live in (it’s a well know vacation spot) and just had a weekend to ourselves but also knew we were super closeby if anything happened.

I wouldn’t base it on those alone lol. My daughter spent the night sometimes with my mom, my grandma in law & my sister after her second birthday. I would never just let someone take her overnight just because they asked. There’s a lot of family on my side and my husband’s side that I just didn’t trust enough to watch her and they had asked before. Not that they’d hurt her but that they just aren’t the best ppl to watch a young child. We moved away from family and in that time has spent the night with our close trusted friends but she’s also 5 and can speak up for herself or tell me if something happens. I’m still cautious to just let anyone take her since we’re moving back home. We also now have an almost 5 month old. It will probably only be my mom, grandma in law and my sister allowed to watch them overnight still. When she starts asking, it will depend on who it is.

I'm leaving our baby for two nights with my mom around the first birthday, which is also our 3rd anniversary. Other than that, with my mom, we don't do sleep overs. I was abused as a child so that's just not an option for our family. I will do everything I can to protect my baby.

We didn’t until he was 2/3 and could answer if he wanted to stay. Then we let him more once he got to 4 and only ever one of his aunties and my MIL and FILs house. It’s still like that now he’s only ever stayed out 5/6 times over and he’s 7. He prefers staying at home. 
My in laws are just moving back and want to have the grandkids over every other weekend and he will probably go most times but it’s always up to him not them or us
