They said it wouldn't happen

So my contractions started at 2am on the 4th January. I stayed in bed until about 5am when I decided it was time to wake my husband up. We both got showered and ready for the day ahead. I rang the ward at about 6.30am when my contractions were around 6 mins apart. I was told to stay at home. They were painful but I was surviving. By 1pm I had started being sick but my contractions had gone all over the place, it would be 25mins the 4mins the 7mins etc. I called the ward again and got told to go in so they could see if my waters had broken. After waiting around for 40 mins I was told my waters hadn't gone and my plug was still in place. I was sent on my way being told I was in very early labour. On the way home I vomited in the car so when we got home at 2.30pm I went and showered and cleaned myself up. Whilst in the shower my contractions started speeding up again. Once I was out I decided to try and eat as I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. Sadly I carried on being sick so that didnt stay down. By 3.45pm I was thinking maybe I was ill as I was still being sick and thought I had a dodgy stomach so I decided to try and go to the bathroom. Whilst my contractions were regular they still weren't that close together. That's when the dreaded happened and my little girl was born at home in the bathroom with just me (my husband was running to the phone to ring 999). The ambulance finally came 40 mins later to check we were all good and took us to the hospital. For a couple of weeks after my husband and I blamed ourselves and kept thinking we should have gone back after they sent us home but after a heart to heart we concluded we didn't have time and if we had we could have ended up having her in the car or at the side of the road. Slightly traumatic but we made it and have a very healthy little girl.
