Anybody not doing NIPT?

Our insurance doesn’t cover it. Out of pocket cost will be $299 and that doesn’t include the lab work, just the analysis. 
We had genetic testing before conceiving and everything came back clear, so I am leaning more towards not doing it. I am under 35 and not a high risk pregnancy. 
Anyone else considering opting out?

I'm over 35, high risk and still not doing. Honestly I don't see the point. It's not fully conclusive and if they find something it is more invasive and risky to be "100% sure", a risk I'm not willing to make, and I'd just worry to death.

Insurance in Taiwan doesn’t cover it either and it would be $500 so it is not worth it to me. We are doing the NT scan and will go from there.

Insurance billed us 712$ for nipt, and the cash price is 249$... I still don’t know how to pay. I’m doing it since I’m 35, and high risk, and had several losses. 
If I pay 712$, it will go towards deductible which we are going to hit this year. If I chose to pay in cash, it won’t go towards deductible... But such a big difference between cash and insurance ?! Ridiculous

My isn’t covered- individual choice. It’s definitely not ‘shit’ as someone so nicely put it.. we’ve had a loss due to a genetic abnormality so for peace of mind I paid $449. Each to their own! Also know for 99+% the gender of our baby too 💙

Definitely not doing it- $300 is my price as well and that’s just ridiculous to me. The doctor said it only test for basic issues and those are noticeable on the 20 week anatomy scan

I’m 34 and baby will be here 2 months before I’m 35. I was shocked my insurance completely covered it. There was absolutely no way I was going to do it if it wasn’t covered, but since it was, it was hard to resist

If your not high risk I wouldn’t do. They gave me the option and if insurance won’t cover it that’s a no for me. Your gonna have enough bills after having the baby

Our insurance quoted us $360, but out of pocket was only $99 so we did it! I think the cost highly depends on the brand of the test you are offered. 
We did not do it with our first, and wouldn’t have with this one either except for the fact that it took us a really long time to conceive. We were going to a reproductive endocrinologist who concluded we had ‘unexplained secondary infertility’, which probably just means my eggs were getting older. So given this in combination with the low price, we decided it was worth it.
