To cruise or not to cruise?

I just found out I am pregnant last week and got confirmation with a blood test yesterday. I'm 4wks. We have a family cruise that leaves this friday but my primary doctor said she has concerns, because of zika, even though there is no outbreak. The CDC doesnt show any cases or outbreaks currently in Cozumel or Costa Maya. Anyone been in this situation, I'm on the fence about if we should go or not?

I wouldn’t since there are so many viruses going around. This is the worst time of year to cruise. Better safe than sorry!

Between how bad zika is for babies while pregnant and corona virus theres no way I'd risk it right now. I'd also be concerned over eating cruise buffet food while pregnant.

I was in a Zika zone during my last pregnancy in the first trimester. I didn’t realize it at the time and the actual warning was issued a few days after we returned home. I knew of the potential of Zika since it had been in other parts of that country at the time and used tons of bug spray and took precautions. When I returned from my vacation I had to be tested for Zika since I was in a designated zone (even though it was a week before the official announcement). I was negative but my husband wasn’t able to be tested (they only tested pregnant women at that time) so the doctor told me to avoid any sexual contact for the remainder of the pregnancy as a precaution just in case he contracted the virus. That was the shitty part. 
If you’re not in a Zika zone then I wouldn’t worry so much about it. Still take precautions.

I went to the Virgin Islands the week before I found out I was pregnant. I didn’t even think of Zika until I got there and there were posters about it. I brought it up to my doctor at my first appointment. He did some research and said he wouldn’t worry about it.

Go and enjoy yourself. I got pregnant in January of last year and went to the Bahamas in March on a cruise. My doctor was concerned about Zika as well. I checked the CDC website and there were no cases. Everything was just fine. It was a very nice getaway for us before our twins arrived. I would get sea bands and try to stay away from dramamine. My doctor prescribed me Meclizine for motion sickness in case the sea bands didn't work.
