Has anyone gone to a chiropractor during pregnancy, more specifically, their third trimester?

3 weeks ago I had a very aggressive dental abscess and the pain was radiating down my jaw and down, around into my neck.

I had antibiotics followed by dental treatment and it’s gone (not completely, but mostly), but it’s getting better.

The neck pain has remained though and I’m just getting SO sick of it. All day it’s this constant dull aching and when I try to stretch and flex my neck, it cracks really loud and crunches repeatedly. That’s the only thing that gives me like 2-3 seconds of relief. Paracetamol won’t touch it.

Now it’s this keeping me up at night in pain instead of the abscess. I’ve asked my GP and my midwife if it’s safe to go to a chiropractor and both have said there’s nothing to say it’s not safe as long as it’s an actual professional, but again there’s always risks associated with it.

I already try to keep good posture, I stretch, I exercise and I have a neck support pillow. My husband is too afraid to hurt me to really dig in when I ask him to rub my neck.

They said it could either be because of pregnancy hormones (eg relaxin) - changes to my posture and carrying extra weight etc or because the abscess isn’t completely gone yet as that was when the pain started.

I’ve never been to a chiropractor before but I’m super cautious since I got pregnant of anything that could even potentially cause harm to me or my son - so I’m unsure if I want someone I don’t know cracking and manipulating my spine! I’d rather be in pain if it means any risk to me which could compromise my son!

Any positive stories?
