See family dr before ob?

My nurse of my ob asked I see my family dr to get ultrasound forms and blood work done since I’m 6 weeks already she wants to have it done before I see him at almost 9 weeks? Is this normal? I have had 2 previous babies with him (3 children this will be my 4th) and never had to do stuff before I saw him

I’ve never been sent to my family doctor. All my ultrasounds are done at the OBGYN

It might be an insurance change? I have to do bloodwork and certain ultrasounds through other companies.

I’ve only ever had to see my family doctor to do a urine sample to verify and then get official orders to see the OB for maternity

My family doctor sets up ultrasound between 7-9 weeks and if all is good then I am referred to a maternity clinic or midwife if I choose. But where i am we only go to an OB if high risk

I am a little high risk due to my blood clotting disorder so I think that’s why she wants it done sooner but I have never had to go to
