Breastfeeding Problems

Help! I need some advice. Literally out of no where 2 days ago, my 2 month old baby just started rejecting my breast. I can’t think of anything that would have brought this on but ever since then, she fusses when she literally sees my breast.

Our BF journey has been difficult from the start. My milk came in late so she dropped weight quickly and ended up losing a pound within the first week of her life. I ended up having to power pump and supplement per the advice of our old pediatrician. I also had to use nipple shields because I have severely inverted nipples. This was advised by a lactation consultant as well.

The plan was to wean off the nipple shields and she was starting to but then we got thrush 😔 so it hurt her mouth to nurse without them. It took us a month to get rid of the thrush and she was nursing well with the shields.

Then 2 days ago, she just flat out started refusing my breast with a shield altogether. She cries and turns her head away when she sees my breast or if she sees me pull out a shield. All day today I tried doing skin to skin, staying calm and making the breast a positive place, “tricking her” into sucking on the breast and nothing has worked. I had to pump and give her a bottle. I’m so sad and feel like I’ve completely failed at breastfeeding which is something that was really important to me. I plan on consulting a lactation consultant again. What else can I do? I guess I’m just looking for some encouragement or advice... 😢
