Diaper rash advice?

Hi all-
My son caught the flu bug and received tamiflu and i believe is also teething, both issues have led us to suddenly having a horrible case of diaper rash. 
We normally use diaper cream whenever he looks a little irritated but this rash does not seem to be helped by our normal cream. We've also been letting him air it out diaper free for a bit.
Anyone have any advice on creams that work well for serious rashes?

We've used WaterWipes and Mama Natural Diaper Balm since day 1 and he hasn't had a rash at all yet.

My baby had the most awful rash. We went through every cream before figuring out a good plan of attack. At every diaper change we cleaned her with just water and wash cloth because the wipes were too irritating (now we use water wipes) then we let her air dry for at least 10 minutes and use a thick layer of aquaphor before the next diaper. We also let her go diaper free as much as we could.

Resinol is a lifesaver with terrible rashes. My boy had one that got so bad his butt was raw and bleeding. I tried every cream under the sun and finally Resinol fixed it. After the first application I could see skin growing back, and within a day or 2 it was completely healed. You can sometimes get lucky and find it behind the counter at the pharmacy, but if not you can also order it on amazon.
