Does Wiccan/Pagan mean if you take something from the earth you must give back?

So I’ve had this friend....she is Wiccan and I’m okay with that I support everybody. But I started to feel weird when she told me she harvested wands and cut herself and wiped her blood on trees to give back...

Some people do bloodwork. It’s not to be taken lightly and represents a very strong bond since it’s literally your life source. In general, people that work with deities will have to make offerings. As long as she doesn’t try to force you into anything, her craft is her own thing so whatever she chooses to do she can do.

“Giving back” works in many ways - there is truth in the idea that you don’t just take, you ask and give back or be open to opportunities to do something else good and selfless. Wicca used to be more of a closed religion but information sharing has made it more open.  Some people have darker interpretations of their craft and that’s not wrong, I’m not opposed to blood magic and sacrifices. But you do have to be careful and it’s not something that is required or to be done without firm knowledge. 
And not all Pagans practice magic, that term refers to people with nature based spirituality who generally believe in living in harmony with nature.
