Career Advice needed
This is going to be long, so I'm sorry, will try put a tl:dr at the bottom
So I currently work full time, and I've been at my current job for almost 4 years now, pretty much always full time hours, officially a full timer for 2 1/2 years(ish).
I've enjoyed what I do for the most part, but I've always known that I didn't want to be there forever. The people I work for are great, the owners are awesome, and I know it's hard to find that kind of atmosphere, but I'm not enjoying what I do anymore, and it's affecting how well I work (in my opinion).
They recently offered me a supervisory role that I'd been offered before, but it was never my thing so I never accepted, they understood and we're good with that. I've accepted it this time around as I figured it might be good for me, get me out of my comfort zone more and on a resume it looks good. I've been in this role for about a month now and I'm hating it.
I feel like not only am I doing what I was before (Purchasing officer, managing a kitchen (we do cheese boards), invoice entry (MYOB), email correspondence, customer service, etc. Practically everything but paying people, haha.) I now have to manage people on top of the ever growing workload from the other jobs and I can't keep up.
There also wasn't a pay rise, instead of being head of kitchen on weekends I'm now out on the main floor, so I suppose it evens out. Idk, doesn't feel like it, haha.
I'm looking at finding work elsewhere, because whilst the people are great, I can't handle the workload anymore, and I just don't care about what I do, and that's not good for them/my conscience.
I have no idea where to start finding another job though, I feel like I got lucky with getting this role (I applied to dozens upon dozens of jobs before getting that one).
I also live in the house my fiancee and I have bought together, so work needs to be decent, but I'm also not coping with full-time hours (varying mental health/life issues), so idk.
Should I find something that's also full-time (or decent part time) and replace my current job? Or will finding a casual one day a week thing (or outside of the other works hours) to ease myself into a new work environment (and give myself time to leave my current job) work better?
TL:DR - felling overworked and hating my current full-time hospitality based job (even though the other staff are awesome and I used to enjoy it), how do I leave and enter a different area entirely? I also have bills and own a house with my fiancee, so definitely can't just leave (no matter how tempting).
I like baking, so I've thought about that a little.
I also learn quickly with IT tech support/software development, but I have not formal qualifications for any of that.
Rant over, thanks for reading 😝
