Pregnant during coronavirus- anyone else trippin?

I said i wouldn’t do this... but i can’t help but to be oh so nervous about this covid-19 epidemic that we are all witnessing and faced with at this time. I’m wondering how the mamas around the world are handling this news and is everyone taking precaution. One of the greatest gifts of being a mother is sometimes worrying about our young and having these horrible thoughts of the worst happening. I just bought my masks and gloves and sanitizers last night just in case. Praying for myself, my family and everyone out there . That we all get through this safely . Take care ....

I’m a nurse in ICU, it’s officially in my area, we’ve been ruling people out but haven’t had a positive yet in my hospital. I’m not worried. I think it’s getting blown way out of proportion and I’m more worried about the false hysteria it’s bringing as opposed to the virus itself (like lack of toilet paper 😂).

I think it’s worth being cautious over but I’m certainly not freaking out. I am nervous for the elderly and immunocomprimised. I do think the hype is causing more panic then necessary. My doctor is not concerned and instructed me to take normal flu season precautions !

One thing that brought me a little bit of comfort was the CDC saying that pregnant women don’t seem to be at an increased risk for catching the virus. Still trying not to freak out though.

I'm not worried about it at All. Statistically a very small number of ppl have caught this worldwide. And those that have experienced several symptoms are even smaller than that. Pregantt women and even infants don't seem to experience severe symptoms or be at an increased risk for anything more that what you would experience as the common cold.

i’m a nurse in CT and it’s in our area. I work with cancer patients and am much more concerned about the well being of our elderly and immunocompromised community. For us pregnant women, practicing good hand hygiene and avoid touching your face and close contact with sick people is all we can do (and it should be enough!) try not to worry- easier said than done I know as I often have to distract myself when I start letting my mind wonder... we will be okay mamas! It’s instinct to be worried for our babes ♥️

Yes. I’m a little worried because in Oregon we have 20+ cases already. I avoid crowded places and going into the hospital to work as I can work from home. However, much of my research has not said anything about pregnant women getting critically ill with this virus. Especially in many other countries with higher cases on Covid 19 (China, Italy, S Korea, and Japan). Therefore, must not be anything we should be panicking. Hand sanitizer and hand washing are our best defenses for now. Until I read anything new about Covid 19 and pregnant women, then I’ll panic :)

I’m surprised that so many aren’t worried. Because I am sooo worried. I am in Arizona and in my town we have 1 confirmed case. I am a counselor on an inpatient psych unit in a hospital and recently we have had many illnesses on our unit. I am taking all the precautions, sanitizing daily, frequent hand washing, not touching my face, hand sanitizing, and wearing mask & gloves when I talk to patients directly. The thing that scares me the most is that technically there is not much known about this virus & pregnant women...yes I read the cdc & national perinatal association websites, but even there they say pregnant women are at a higher risk. The previously known coronaviruses, (MERS & SARS) although they infected a smaller number and weren’t as easily spread, posed potential hard to women in 1st trimesters and potentially caused still birth. On the other hand, reports from China recently said that women in the 3rd trimester did not have any dangerous effect on their babies. Again this adds to the lack of concrete information. Everyday my husband goes to work and my 9 year old goes to school i worry what they are picking up. Yes they follow all the proper hygiene rules as well...but still you never know all it takes is one sneeze/cough in your direction. To make me more concerned my doctor encouraged me to figure out work from home options. So her concern is there, therefore, my worry is increased.

I was traveling last week when it really started getting worse in the US, so that was a little freaky, but I've just been washing my hands like crazy, using hand sanitizer, not touching my face, etc. I think it's ok to be cautious but I actually feel like experiencing panic, fear, and anxiety is going to be worse for me and the baby, so I'm working on keeping a level head. I have a history of depression and anxiety, so to me the mental health aspect actually feels more dangerous than the physical health risks. So I'm doing lots of meditation, self care, etc. Checking in with my therapist regularly. "Proactive, not panic" is what one person said to me recently, and that mantra has helped me a lot!

I live in New Jersey and work in the city I’m so terrified of the subway rn. I would love to call off and hide in my apartment but I know I have to work lbs just keep praying we’re kept safe from this!!
