2nd glucose test
So I am very confused and upset with how these glucose test work.
My first pregnancy I was able to take it in the afternoon and everything came out fine. They told me to eat normal and not to fast. I ate a huge lunch and passed fine.
Last week when I had my appointment I asked the DR if I needed to fast and he said no eat like normal. Well this pregnancy I am only able to eat tiny size meals and or snacks. So I ate like normal. I had my appointment in the morning right after work and I ate like I normally do. I was starving. I had an egg and spinach wrap but it left my stomach feeling over full. I finished eating about an hour before I had the test. So I got a call yesterday that I failed my glucose test. I have to go back Friday morning for another test. I am a little upset to say the least. This time they want me to fast.
I do not have a typical schedule I work from 3 am to 9 am and I typically eat my dinner at about 430 pm so I am in bed by 7pm. They told me no eating after midnight the night before. I am a little concerned because my appointment is not until 8 am. I will be in bed by 7.
Typically I eat something small at 3am have a snack around 6 and then eat a meal by 9 am. I already get light headed and dizzy if I go a super long time without eating... like 5 hours plus. I am concerned I am going to pass out before my appointment. I am still going to work that morning I will just be leaving early to take another glucose test.
Also the nurse told me I need to eat 3 full size candy bars or 6 slices of bread the 2 days before. I feel like that is excessive.
Why do they make it like this? I want to opt out and just ask them what the diet restrictions will be. I feel like they are making it impossible and I am going to get sick or fail or both. Basically this means I won’t be able to eat from about 7pm to about 11am. That seems insane to me right now. Normally if I was not pregnant I would be fine with that. I just haven’t been able to eat like normal my whole pregnancy.
Sorry just venting but this is dumb.
