Husband’s friends
I love my husband but now that we are expecting, I can’t stand some of his friends. I always saw some of them as immature, but I thought it was commendable that despite getting a good career, my husband never left behind his childhood friends who didn’t go as far in life.
What I mean is, 3 of his friends in particular are in their early 30s, living with their parents/moms, and work minimum wage part-time jobs. They basically live like kids on summer vacation and smoke weed all day.
He has many other friends but it seems like the barely employed pothead group always came around more often because they are always available.
I’m not really judging them based on their careers and money, but since I gotten pregnant I’ve noticed they’re actually really crappy people. One of them is dating an 18 year old girl and cheats on her constantly. Another one has taken his 5 year old (he was never together with the kid’s mother) on drug deals before (marijuana). The third friend is probably the most morally sound, but seems to see our home as a clubhouse where he can crash after the bar and stay for days (until we kick him out).
Expecting a baby has opened my eyes to these behaviors, and I want them out of our lives. While my husband has granted my wishes by not hanging out with them, not letting them come over, and avoiding places that they go, he’s still in contact with them via Xbox and text. The other day I even saw that one of them texted their degenerate group chat saying my husband has become boring since I got pregnant, begging him to go out to the strip club.
I didn’t say anything to my husband because I read his response shutting it down (“dude, grow up ******”). Im also thankful that these people don’t come to our house anymore/hang out with him, BUT I’m really offended that they even exist and I wish he would just block them all for good.
If any of you are wondering why he keeps them around, he says it’s because they grew up together and they are family to him. Am I being a crazy pregnant girl, and does anyone have any advice for me?
