My boss expects me to go in while she stays home. What do I do? (Read description)
So my boss lives in a different state. I’m the only member of her team in this state. She has also told everyone to stay home if they feel more comfortable doing so. She has been home all last week, all this week, and will stay home indefinitely.
Apparently our CEO wants to film a video of himself talking about how to stay safe during the virus. My boss tells me to take lead on that. I’m like wait... what? But I’m staying home to stay safe from the virus......? She said ok and they could try to find someone else to do it but she seemed pissed at me.
Why is it fair that I’m being expected to jeopardize my health for this? Even the CDC is saying don’t leave the house for non-critical reasons. How is filming the CEO (it’s a tech company btw, not like it’s healthcare or something, or like anyone will even watch this video???) a critical reason?
I just feel like it is so unfair and so unreasonable for her to expect this of me when the entire rest of the team INCLUDING HER gets to stay home.
Am I wrong to be frustrated? Should I go in anyway? Or stand firm and say no I’m prioritizing my health? (For the record I’m confident it’s not like I’d get fired over this or anything, at the most she’d just be annoyed at me but it wouldn’t look great to the CEO either...)
