Not wanting to have kids

Carel

Hi! My husband and I are married 3.5 years and we never tried to have kids because we decided early on that we didn’t want them. Don’t get us wrong, we love kids but we think that we’re the wrong people to raise one. We travel a lot and we don’t live near family. My question is, why can’t other people respect our decision to not have kids? We have been told a million times that we’re making the wrong decision. That we will regret it later on. So much discouragement. I just don’t get it, why can’t they just be happy with our decision? Who are they to know what is best for us anyway? There is so much lack of understanding for people deciding not wanting kids that having them feels like defying conformity. It’s so odd.

If anyone is in a similar situation, present or past, would really appreciate the advice.
