Home birth???

Question

Hi.. is anyone else here considering a home birth due to the pandemic, or maybe you already have one planned and can give me some information or guidance. I’m due June 1st, living in PA currently

Definitely not.  Home births have huge risks to them, it’s a nice idea but not worth it in my opinion. I think how far you are from the hospital should also be taken into consideration.  I’m about a half hour away which is way to far in an emergency situation. I’ve also given birth twice already and I KNOW I need the epidural and can’t have one at home.  I literally would have passed out from the pain without one. Every tolerates pain differently though. I know there’s added risk at the hospitals right now too you just have to think about the pros and cons of both and do what you feel is right for you.  For me I know a home birth is not what I would want.

Due June 4th and I have always wanted to  do a home birth. Didn't happen with my firstborn, but definitely trying with this one!!

Home births are okay if the risks of complications are extremely low. You would need to find a midwife AND talk to your current OBGYn (who has all of your prenatal history) and work out whether it’ll safe enough for mom and baby.
If it is go for it! I’ve heard mothers who wanted a home birth and got own had lovely experiences and were over the moon with no regrets (it’s painful but it was on their terms). But make sure there is an agreement about what to do if things go sour. Often only 1 midwife is there and if they spot trouble they have every right to stop and see to it that you get to a hospital.
Also work it out with insurance. Home births are typically cheaper but not all insurances cover them

I just switched to a birth center and I’m so relieved! They feel very strongly about having the dad there. It’s also very close to the hospital and the midwives have admitting privileges so they can get you straight into the OR if needed.

I have had 1 hospital birth and 2 homebirths and hopefully having another home birth any day!! My homebirths were a 100% better than my hospital experience.

I’m due in November but if this still going on I’m gonna do a home birth. Especially if they try telling me my husband can’t be there
I’ve given birth 4 times, they were all easy, quick and uncomplicated. I almost gave birth to baby number 3 at home anyway, I barely made it to the hospital.
I’ll buy one of those water pools and look into home midwives
