37 weeks - early induction?!

Hey guys,
I’m so scared with everything going on that my husband won’t be able to be in the delivery room with me when I give birth. I’m in San Diego, they just told us our SO can’t come to any more doctors apps, I’m worried about what will happen next. I have so much anxiety around my birth in the first place.... Is it crazy to want an early induction so that I know he will be there with me? HELP! 😩

A doctor wouldn't do an early induction so you can have your husband there. That's slightly selfish for the baby. The baby needs those extra weeks just in case. It's just better to be safe ...

I wouldn’t do an early term induction for that reason and I don’t know if doctors would go for it either. Usually they want you to be full term for an induction. Because of the circumstances, maybe they will change things up. I wouldn’t go that route, personally. I would consider discussing an elective induction once full term just so my doctor can even have an idea of the when. It’d probably make things a little easier for them as well. But again, it’s really up in the air.

You are strong and can do anything. I think it’s more important that your baby go to term if at all possible than for you to have the comfort of your husband being there. I understand that’s a painful situation but having courage means doing the hard thing if that’s what’s better. Your baby needs you to be courageous. Not to mention induction period, even at full term, can cause a bunch of extra issues during labor.

In Michigan I was told that if I test positive for the virus, they will take my baby for 14 days from me. It’s terrifying! Praying my baby safely comes sooner than later, but I don’t want her to be too early. I am over 36 weeks right now. Will not be inducing, but will be trying “old wives tales” to get things moving if she is ready next week.
