I tested and nothing pops up

I took a pregnancy test today and it came out negative. am about 3 days late I know I might be exaggerating but I been trying to get pregnant the last year and this is the first time I been late for these many days .... I’m super nervous I don’t know if I should get excited or just let it go and just wait for my period .... has anyone been late, tested and came out negative but were actually pregnant but just found out later later ????
