Easter dinner with the family during Covid 19?

So... I’m 5 months pregnant and I’ve been invited by my step mother to have Easter dinner at her home on 4/12. She says it’s just going to be she and my dads kids families. Which could be a total of 10-13 of us. Uhmmmm ....... to me this coronavirus situation is out of control and people are walking around here with mild symptoms and not even knowing they have it. I want to tell her no. But I’m not sure. Maybe it’s safe . Who knows. Maybe I’m being paranoid . I just really don’t want to put myself at risk. But staying home all the time is a bit boring. My 3 year old is longing for interaction especially with family. I don’t know what to do. Any advice. ? LA is ok a stay at home order. I thought i heard them say steer clear of gatherings. My step mom and dad tried to take a cruise 2 weeks ago and the only things stopping them from going was the cruise ship cancelling the cruise and Trumps States of Emergency declaration. Other than that they were all a go. Maybe their judgement is off. Idk.

Ok I’m not paranoid . This was my response back to her email invite : 
Hi,
Sorry we will not be able to make the Easter dinner this go round . This coronavirus situation seems to be a bit out of control and due to me being pregnant and at high risk with asthma, i really have to blow caution to the wind and stay at home to protect myself. I’m sure everyone is trying to stay healthy by staying at home and out of the way of this terrible virus , but there is really no guarantees at this time. And gathering with families (even in small numbers) is how viruses such as this one spreads easily .
This year,  I’m going to bunker down and cook Easter dinner for my family at home. But we would for sure love to call you guys and face time you all to have a virtual dinner! 
There’s an app called Zoom , that allows multiple people to chat I’ve participated in 2 birthday parties on the Zoom App and they were fun. Maybe we can try that instead. Let me know and I’ll help set it up.

Honestly I would do a virtual dinner party. Especially given the pregnancy. If they have an issue with you not going then that’s on them.

This is a terrible idea. You’d be exposing yourself to the judgment of 10-13 other people, plus anyone that those 10-13 people may have come closer than six feet to in the previous 14 days, plus anyone that those people may have comes closer than six feet to in the 14 days prior to that, and so on. Even if each person only was exposed to two other people in that time period, you’re already exposed to almost 100 other people you don’t know just in those two degrees of separation. Could be a mailman. Grocery store clerk. Someone in the waiting room at the doctor. Who even knows?

In the UK we are on lockdown and you are not allowed to meet up with anyone who doesn’t live in your house. There was a story the other day about a family in the US who had a gathering and 4 of the same family died. This situation is not something to be taken lightly

We are in total lockdown in New Zealand to try and stop the horror that is happening in Italy, Spain and soon to be the US. We only have 500 odd cases here and one death so far but we are all so glad we have a sensible leader who has made hard decisions early in order to save lives. 
You are not being paranoid at all by being extremely worried. I would not in any circumstances be meeting up with people and going out. 
I’m currently pregnant and have a 15 month old. My partner is working from home. We all have cabin fever and are very bored but that is much better than spreading this virus and killing a lot of people.

Don’t do it! Not worth the risk. I’m amazed that she is having 10-13 people together for dinner. Just cancel this Easter meal, and let her know you and her grandbaby can celebrate babies first Easter together next year. 
I mean, if you were feeling icky, you would have had to cancel anyway, so why not cancel to avoid the chance of feeling icky later?

Defiantly not! I live in Canada and our province just got told not to have any gatherings of more than 5 people. I would not take the risk right now!

My family has opted out of gathering for Easter.  There are 31 of us, so it’s definitely a bigger gathering.  But with a few of us having younger babies we just decided the risk wasn’t worth it.  We’re hoping to maybe plan an Easter gathering later in the year or just a few more gatherings over the summer to make up for the time we’ve spent apart.  I would much rather see my family later than risk anyone’s health during this time.
