Coming home manual
Picture for attention —

Hey nicu fam! I’m am writing a manual of sorts for parents of graduating babies. What’s some advice, suggestions, etc you’d give to parents coming home? Here are some examples:
Set alarms while you’re still there with medication times. Work with lactation to make sure you’re maximizing your time and getting rest in conjunction with medication times.
Write down when the last doses were administered at the hospital.
Record the sounds of baby’s room so they can hear them at home.
Take a sound machine to the hospital to play in their room. Play the same sounds when you come home.
Let them sleep with their special blanket from their stay. Don’t wash it immediately.
Get in to the routine of being the one to give medications. Get comfortable while the nurses are there to support you.
Call your pharmacy. Find out their specific protocols on medication filling time frames. Especially on the compounded ones. They take longer!
