Working in a hospital during COVID 19

M

Hi all, I could use some input. I’m only 8 weeks pregnant. I go to my first appointment tomorrow. I’ve been able to be home the past few days leading up to my appointment.

My husband and I have decided that we’d be able to manage me not working right now to protect the baby. According to HR, I only need to work 5 hours every 2 weeks to maintain benefits.

At first, my employer was ok with this as my department isn’t necessarily essential right now. However, other employees have been asking for time off and this would require me coming back and doing patient care. Now they’re saying they need to “balance” others requests.

I feel that since I’m pregnant and only wanting to be home to minimize exposure and risk to my baby that my requests should be honored as much as possible.

Am I being selfish/ridiculous with this??

Anyone working in a hospital right now in their first trimester and worried about all this??
