Upstairs and downstairs apartment question?!?!

Question

So im gonna move out for the first time soon. I might have the option to be in a downstairs or upstairs apartment.
Which one is the most noise canceling?
I wanna be able to listen to music but i dont want my neighbors banging on my floor if I'm being to loud upstairs.   
I know it also depends on the complex's structure itself but what do you guys think?

Love upstairs. Even when your neighbors are just behaving normally upstairs neighbors on apartments always sound like elephants.

UPSTAIRS!!!!!

My In Laws own an apartment complex and I live right above my SIL and when I’m downstairs with her I can hear my chihuahua and my cat playing 🤦🏼‍♀️ and it sounds loud. I on the other hand hardly hear them and she has 4 kids 4,2,9 and 18. Stay upstairs.
These are the criminals disturbing the peace of their aunt 😆

Eh pros and cons to both. If you’re upstairs you don’t hear people walking above you. But upstairs is generally harder to move in and out of and can be a pain with groceries. And when I live upstairs I think about how loud my feet are a lot lol

Upstairs is better to me. But dont be playing loud music or you'll get reported. If you want to listen to music wear head phones or find a house. I lived on the bottom floor and this guy next to me played loud music so much while I was doing college work. I had to report him several times and he still kept doing it. I remember living on the 3rd floor and it's very quiet. You can't hear anyone walking above you or nothing. The only bad part is the stairs. Carrying groceries sucks and moving your furniture is horrible too but it's a lot better I think.

I would do upstairs bc I’ve always heard it’s easier for breakins to happen on the ground floor. Not a fact, just what I’ve always thought. Like the other commenters have said you’ll probably hear noise regardless. If your the ground you’ll hear what’s above and vice versa.

Your neighbors will hear everything no matter where you are. Apartments aren’t sound proof at all. If you don’t want to deal with hearing others as much, then upstairs. You’ll still hear them to the side, though. 
As for people hearing you, just be considerate with the noise level and times.
