Should I tell my crush that I like him?

We’ve know each other since we were kids but he lives far away now so I don’t see any harm in telling him since I doubt we will meet in the future. We haven’t talked in a while but I’ve had feeling for him for like 3 years and I want to let it all out even if he doesn’t feel the same way. So should I just go for it?

I would make sure tht he doesn't have a girlfriend because tht's kinda what happened to me. Because i told this guy tht i've knowed since the 7th grade how i felt about him & i didn't know tht he still had a girlfriend & then messaged me back saying how he would appreciate it if i didn't send him anything like tht again because he has a girlfriend tht he love very much & you know how it like a long time ago, no hard feelings & blah blah blah. I say oh  ok sorry. He said tht i was fine & i said ol & then tht was it between me n him, but then she started messaging me off of his thing & the whole thing was really embarrising & of course i appolagized like over n over again. Tht was like 2 years ago & i haven't talked to him since because idk how to talk to him anymore. Oh, also i didn't mentioned this, but me n him became friends & then became bestfriends. Then after 10th grade i had to move & i didn't really tell him or alot of people for tht matter. But before tht he messaged me saying how he missed me n i said how i missed him too, then he wanted to know if he could ask me a question & i thought he was gonna ask me an innapropiate question, so i said tht i didn't like those kinds of questions & he said oh, sorry. But i was really stupid because he was gonna ask me out & i would've said yes but after tht we just kinda lost touch & when i sent him tht confessing my feelings for him.. tht was the 1st time i really talked to him in like 6 or 7 years. But i still think about him tho, but sometimes i try not to since you know, he made his feelings about me pretty clear.
