Pregnancy and Covid-19
I’m a hot mess right now and I’m hoping that you ladies can give me some peace of mind.
Just as background information, I am a type 2 diabetic who is controlling it with oral medication. My husband and I lost our first pregnancy last May very early in my first trimester.
Both my hubby and I are early 30s but are both considered part of the vulnerable population due to my diabetes and his asthma.
Now, the day the social distancing started, my endo (diabetes specialist doctor) gave me no indication that we should stop trying in the face of the pandemic. So we didn’t. And got intimate several times during my fertile week including the day I ovulated. (Which was within the first week of quarantine.)
As the days passed and the health crisis got worse, I reached out to MFM to ask if we should keep trying or pause until the pandemic passed over. Our doctor said to pause trying to get pregnant and then explained what a pregnancy would look like during the pandemic. It seem a that I can’t really avoid going to the MFM office (in the women’s hospital downtown in the city).
While I’m bummed about putting a hold on things, I completely understand.... but I am a day late. We took a pregnancy test two days ago and it came up negative...I wonder if it is a false negative since we did it in the afternoon?
I guess I’m just looking for support and maybe reassurance as we wait for Aunt Flo. Are there any ladies who are in my boat? Or currently pregnant and diabetic or pregnant with a pre-existing condition that puts them vulnerable population for the virus?
My wonderful hubby is trying to be there for me but his anxiety disorder is making it hard for him to do so. I don’t want to make things worse for him because quarantine is probably the worst place to have panic attacks.
