Bilirubin levels?

My son was in the NICU for 7 days for a bacterial infection, he was born at 36w5d. He’s ok now but he was also on phototherapy because his bilirubin levels were at 12. 
We came home 5 days ago and today we had an appointment with the pediatrician who saw him a little bit yellow so asked for labs of bilirubin. It was on 11.6. Do you think those levels are high enough to have him in NICU again? I dont want him to be in the hospital anymore 😭

With my daughter she was at 12 in the hospital and did uv light therapy. My son was always on the border till he hit 14 but I did exclusively breastfeeding and some sun light and helped tons

They didn’t rehospitalize my first until she hit 20.

My area (two different peds) hospitalize at 16. So at 11.6, probably not if you use a biliblanket for photo therapy.

I'd say no. The older they get the higher the number can be. It also depends on your availability to do light therapy if needed wt home. Idk if being a preemie makes a difference. What I recall from mine once mine got around 10 they were basically not worried anymore but she was a week old at that point at a week late.

If it was, they would have sent your right away. My son remained yellow for 2-3 months, but they didn't test him again after his first post hospital check up because it had come below the threshold and my ped didn't think it was necessary. She said it's super common, especially in breastfed babies, so there must be some reason for low levels of jaundice we just haven't found yet.
