We go week to week with my stepkids. My husband and his ex-wife share equal custody. She is notoriously unsanitary and just generally a nasty person, so naturally we were worried with them spending time over there during this pandemic. We knew she wouldn’t be the best at following the stay at home order because she’s the type of person that doesn’t think the law applies to her, much less “loose guidelines” recommended by the president and non-enforceable stay at home order from the governor.

Anyway, he talked to them on the phone a few minutes ago and they talked about how they had been going back and forth to their grandmother’s house (who is also a dirty person). They have also been spending the night at their aunt’s house WHO IS WAITING ON HER COVID-19 TEST RESULTS AS WE SPEAK. Are these people serious??? What on earth is the issue with these people??? Like, what about protecting your kids is so difficult. Stop having sleepovers. Stop going visit your parents. Stop exposing your kids to people who aren’t being careful and safe. Stop putting OTHER PEOPLE’S HEALTH AT RISK.

They had agreed to switch every two weeks instead of one to allow that 14 day period. But a few days ago, my husband and I decided to extend it because the aunt was still waiting on her test results. So now we find out that they are REGULARLY going to other people’s houses... people who might actually have COVID-19 and we’re supposed to just accept that!? It’s child endangerment or something! I can’t even process. Even aside from the kids’ health... take that out of the equation for a second.... you’re going to send your kids into someone else’s home knowing that you haven’t been careful AT ALL. How fucking selfish and irresponsible. I have a 1 1/2 year old and I’m 5 months pregnant. You’re fine with possibly exposing another family to COVID-19 without so much as a heads up that you’ve been careless??? I can’t. I’m so furious. Thanks for letting me vent.
