You cannot have a true period and be pregnant.
Your period is the shedding of your uterine lining as a result of no fertilized egg implanting. If no fertilized egg implants, you have a period.
You can have light, and sometimes regular bleeding while pregnant, but it is NOT a period. 
If you have a positive pregnancy test followed by what appears to be a normal or heavy period, that is called a chemical pregnancy or very early miscarriage.
Bleeding while pregnant is usually a sign of something being not right, especially if it’s heavy or red. Some light spotting or light pink bleeding may be normal. All bleeding during pregnancy should prompt a call to your doctor.

Some women do have a certain amount of bleeding during their pregnancies but you absolutely CANNOT have a real period and be pregnant.  
A period is your body shedding the lining that it built to sustain the pregnancy- therefore you cannot be pregnant and remove the lining at the same time. 🤦‍♀️

Women can bleed for many reasons during pregnancy, including every month at the same exact time, for 7 days, resembling a period, but it is infact NOT a period. This is hormonal bleeding. Other reasons could be implnatation bleeding at the beginning or that the placenta is not connected in the right place, this is called placenta previa. One of the worst cases for bleeding during pregnancy is placentea abruptio, this is where the placenta starts ripping from the uterus, most of the time results in early cesarean or miscarriage. 
Menstration is shedding a wall that was built throughout the month to hold the fetus. The baby lives because of this wall. It lives ON this wall. If👏 this👏 wall👏 sheds👏 that mother is losing or has already lost her baby.
With that being said... no your grandmas, cousins, aunt, did not have a period her while pregnant.... she had hormal bleeding, or something else along those lines.
Listen to me..... ‼‼‼‼ we need to stop normalizing bleeding during pregnancy because any bleeding should be consulted with a provider and THEY will let you know if you should not worry. Dont give false info and cause someone uneducated on pregnancy to lose their baby!‼‼‼ 
60 years ago we didnt have the technology that we have now so maybe doctors back then called it a period, but we are advanced now and know that its infact not a period.

Here is my son (10 months the 11th) I had a blood clot under him at 6 weeks and he's perfectly healthy heavy bleeding doesn't always mean loss of pregnancy

No it’s not a period. Some women have light spotting the first month or two they find out because light spotting in the first trimester is normal but it’s nothing like an actual period.

I had period like week long bleeding for the first 6 months I was pregnant with my daughter when my period was due. The doctors never could find out why. After multiple ultrasounds they just concluded that's how my body was and left it at that.

You can’t. I wish women would stop throwing this claim around because it is SIMPLY impossible and quite honestly, irresponsible. The endometrium lining sheds because a pregnancy did NOT occur in that given cycle, so medically, it is literally impossible. This is something we all learned in sex education, so it is disappointing to constantly read comments relating to this issue. It IS, however, possible to have bleeding during a pregnancy, but it is NOT a period - it could be something else, like a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, implantation bleeding, or simply just regular breakthrough bleeding, but I can confidently say that despite claims I’ve read on this app, no woman has ever been pregnant and experienced a period.
