When do babies/toddlers start using a pillow???

Okay first off We do not use a pillow. However I am wondering when do you start tho? My baby isn’t a lil baby anymore, he’s 11months old today, crusing, talking pointing and beginning his first steps alone 😩 his 12 month check up is on his birthday May 15th which is also the predicted peak for my state so we are planning on postponing it by 2-4weeks to be cautious since our Peditrcian is in a large medical building. When he has his 1year checkup we will discuss this with the pedtrician. We have practiced safe sleeping and SIDS guidelines but my question is when did you start giving your “baby” a pillow? Playing in the living room he will grab a pillow from the couch and put on the floor and lay on it while I read a book to him, all on his own.🤨 we have carpeted floors and it’s not a texture thing, he’s been doing it almost daily for about 3weeks and this our quiet time before he goes down for a nap. Like I said he is 11months and I’m not rushing but so curious as to when you stop safe sleeping practices?
