Are 18 year olds adults?

Question

I've seen a lot of hate on women dating or being interested in younger men on this app.. I'm 25 and my bf is 18, we are both adults. This app just seems kinda wishy washy. Any other time people are commenting "You're 18 you're an adult" but when it's something they don't approve of it becomes "18 is a child" That makes no sense...

I wouldnt even entertain dating an 18 year old though. being legally am adult is irrelevant to me.

Legally yes, mentally and emotionally no. I'd rather roll in broken glass before dating an 18 year old. Their brains have no finished forming yet and they dont have critical thinking skills like someone in their mid 20s.

So I’ll just use my husband as an example...
At 18: He was still in his last year of highschool... when he first graduated in June he still lived with his parents, didn’t know what career he wanted, worked part-time at the mall, drove his parents car (All of which is super normal for 18). 
At 25: He had a masters degree in business, the beginnings of a success career, owned his own house and vehicle. 
My point is that both men and women grow up sooo much between 18 and 25. I’m not sure how as a 25 year old woman you could entertain a serious relationship with an 18 year old man-boy.

I mean, yes. But I'm about to turn 22 and I wouldn't want to date a 18 year old. There's a maturity difference because we change a lot from 18 to 25 years old.

Age doesn’t matter but an imbalanced power dynamic absolutely does. 
So yes, an 18 year old is an adult. However, the power dynamics between an 18 and 25 year old can be obvious. They become even more stark if it’s an 18 and 30 year old. Those people are not at the same stages in life.

18 is legally an adult, but I would never ever date an 18 year old, unless I was also 18 at the same time. They’re mentally and emotionally not mature enough. Also, being on your own and paying for an apartment/car also doesn’t automatically make you “mature” emotionally or mentally. Some things just come with time.

I don’t think it’s “hate” on older women dating 18 year old guys. 
It’s that that’s not “normal”. I evolved  tremendously emotionally and mentally between 18 and 25+. Most of us do. 
Very rare is it to find someone who is 18 who truly has matured enough be on pace with an older person. 
I think it’s a different story when it’s a 26 year old man and 32 yr old woman. They may be at different stages in career paths (or not) and want different things in life, like kids or settling down (or not) but at least both have matured on a chemical level inside their brain and bodies. 
You just have to understand you’re the minority.

Sorry, its a teenager to me. 17 is the legal adult age in Vietnam. Doesn't make 17 year olds adults.
