How to let a guy know you like him?

I met this guy I really like but niether him nor I are experienced in relationships. I’m really close with him and his friends and his friends know that I like him and have been trying to get us two to date. I’ve hung out with him already and sort of went on a date with him but he told his friends that he doesn’t think I’m interested in him. How do I get him to realize that I like him and want to date him without making our friendship weird.
