Eye movement normal?

My son was 4 months early. He's 2 months old. I've noticed that his right eye kind of goes all over the place when he's looking around but his left eye will focus on whoever is talking to him. I don't have a whole lot of experience with infants and zero experience with a baby born so early. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a preemie thing or an infant thing or just not normal?

Preemies do tend to be more prone to eye problems, although I’m not sure that what you’re describing is a cause for concern or preemie related. It might just be he needs glasses or some exercises when bigger. Or it might just sort itself out as his brain develops. 
Your paediatrician will be able to help and let you know if you need an eye appointment. 
Was your baby cleared for ROP in the NICU?

My fiancé’s son is 3 now and he had that issue when he was an infant, he wasn’t born early though. Right now he has to wear an eyepatch on the eye that focuses correctly to make the other eye focus.

Most likely normal. Babies eye muscles need to learn how to work/focus both the muscles inside the eyes and the ones outside, this can take some time. It's worth mentioning to your pediatrician, and keep en eye on it. Try to notice if it's all the time or if it's only when baby is tired ir trying to focus on something, both eyes or just one
My oldest son had a quite prominent exotropia(one or both eyes turn outwards) when he was tired and/or really focusing on something. This was when he was around 2-4 months old. And then it just fixed itself.
