Should clothes and toys be gender specific?

Example:
-Boy wears blue shirt, girl wears pink dress. 
-Barbies are for girls, cars are for boys. 
-Girls wear makeup and paint nails, boys don’t? I’m super curious on what you think!

It really depends on what you believe in. I personally don't judge anyone else. I do have my limits. Like when I go shopping for my boys I tend to gravitate to the blue stuff. At the same time, I bought my 1 year old a doll and have purchased pink and purple formal shirts for my teenager. But I'm paying for them so I buy whatever I like! Make up should not be used for boys or girls! 
I think a more important lesson to teach our kids is to learn to love themselves and respect themselves as much as they do other people! 
I think too much emphasis is placed on the gender stuff. In my opinion we should all be striving to create better human beings.

My little sister (shes 7) loves dinosaurs and optimus prime so that's the kind of stuff I get her. She said when she grows up she wants to be a paleontologist who makes mechanic dinosaurs. 🤷‍♀️ I used to paint my little brothers nails when he asked me to, I just wouldn't let him go to school like that so he wouldn't get made fun of. I mean I'm not gonna put my one month old son in a dress, but I think if they're old enough to say they enjoy it then let them enjoy it.

I’m traditional to a certain extent. My daughter is two and has always loved tractors, construction equipment, tools, etc. But we also have fun with make up, painting nails, and cute outfits. If I had a boy I personally wouldn’t play dress up with him in dresses or whatnot. If he wants to play with dolls or that kind of stuff I don’t care. I’d still have fun with clothes but it’d be more Pearl snap shirts and cute baseball caps. I’m all for following a child’s lead and letting them explore, but I can feel a hesitation in myself when it comes to some things. Then again, I’ve never had a boy so this is presumed thought process. I personally don’t get into princesses and high heeled shoes and barbies myself so that could be part of my bias. I’m thankful my daughter doesn’t get into that stuff lol. Whatever you decide to do with your own child is you and your family’s decision that shouldn’t be judged by others. To each their own!

No way!!!! My daughter loves cars, trucks, construction vehicles, trains, working with daddy... she can play with whatever type of toy she wants.

I tried to steer away from anything too gendered with my first. He naturally gravitated towards blue, cars, and dinosaurs. But he has also had baby dolls and taken them everywhere. I’ve never stopped him from getting something because it’s “girly” I think it would just make him feel bad for wanting it. I figured he is too young to have any of those ideas in his head, I just want him to be happy. But my boys are very cisgender, nothing they wear or like will change that m.

Absolutely not. So far my daughter has dinosaur pjs and slippers, a bunch of clothes in all sorts of colours including both pink and navy blue, pirate themed bibs, a few dresses and a space themed blanket ❤️ 
I look at it this way, I’m a woman that likes all colours, is comfortable in either dresses or pants, (I’m wearing a suit to my mums wedding) and when I was growing up I was always jealous of my boy cousins cars and action men toys. We used to swap as they wanted to play with my barbies!

From my personal approach, my son plays with whatever makes him happy. Granted, he is 1 😅 but if it keeps him calm, I am not subjective to making sure he is playing with a toy that says “boy”. When it comes to clothes, I do stay in the boy lane with him and for the shopping that I’ve done for my daughter are girl clothes. But that’s just my preference (one day I am sure they’ll dress however they like) and wouldn’t be bothered if anyone does any different.

I think if a kid likes something and it’s not hurting them then what’s the harm? Also colors don’t have genders! My daughter definitely has some hand-me-down “boy” clothes but she will be clothed so I’m not bothered!

Traditionally, all kids wore dresses until they were potty trained, pink was for boys as it was seen as "light red" and more masculine, and blue was for girls because if the Virgin Mary. It's all so subjective. I plan on using the same clothes for my daughter as I did for my son unless they specifically say "little man" or something.
