Will guys really turn someone down based off age?

Some people I’m friends with want to set me up with someone they know. Great guy from how he sounds. He is 25 almost 26 and I am 18 almost 19.

Basics of the text between my friend and him

My friend: she is pretty cool but she is only 18 or 19

Guy in question: to young for me

Should I take this as a complete rejection? I will admit I am hesitant on the age difference too but I have opened up more to the idea of it since I found out more about him. Do you think it is a good idea to meet him and other new people in a group setting, or is this something I should avoid?

I know this sounds stupid and immature, but I have never had a real relationship and haven’t dated since middle school.

We have never met and don’t know much about each other.
