Ovulation Test as pregnancy test

Kayla

I’ve seen a couple posts about woman that have used their ovulation tests as a pregnancy test. Has anyone done this and it was accurate? Just found it pretty interesting. My wife and I just started TTC and we are finding out new things everyday. ☺️

These are my tests this cycle to give you an idea of “positive”. The test line has to be darker than the control line. The very dark tests are my “peak” tests, meaning I’m at the peak of my ovulation and ovulated 12-36 hours after the first really dark test. Also not everybody gets really dark tests like mine, but as long as the line is as dark, or darker than the other line, you’ll more than likely ovulate soon. OPKs are just a guess of when you will ovulate, you can’t confirm ovulation without BBT tracking or an ultrasound.Good luck!!

It’s not accurate to determine pregnancy as lh fluctuates during your cycle :)

Positive is when the test line is the same color or darker than the control !

Okay. Yeah that’s what I’ve been trying to research. I was confused on how to determine what is a “positive”

I’ve done it when I was 5 weeks pregnant and it did show positive several times. I did it because I was curious too lolBut from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t pick it up in early pregnancy, so it can’t be used as a “before missed period” pregnancy test. LH and HCG are so similar in molecules that the test can’t distinguish the difference between the 2. And the test will be like a “peak positive” and really dark.

Very interesting. Okay cool. So you already got your BFP before you tried it?
