Birthday idea for June babies

Jessie

So a few weeks ago (or maybe a month, who can tell anymore) I saw a really cool news story and I wanted to share.

Basically a girl turned 18 and was feeling down to be missing all the typical senior year of high school fun and also feeling stressed about post secondary next year and what this crisis could mean for that.

But SURPRISE! Her awesome parents saved the day with the coolest birthday gift for her. A TIME CAPSULE. At her first birthday her parents had everyone bring something to add to a time capsule. Family and friends wrote things, adding cultural references, wishes for her future, etc. They kept it a secret for 18 years, hiding it in the back of closets, even moving houses and lugging it along.

For our June babies, what an amazing thing we could do so we could remember this bizarre time in our lives. Some of you could even have your family members mail things to you, as we’re unsure if travelling will be an option.

I imagine adding a roll of toilet paper and a face mask and explaining to my 18 year old what an experience it was to live through. I’d add something tech related too, because we know technology changes exponentially.

I think the family used a small fireproof office safe as their capsule.

Anyways, I’ve been wanting to share that idea on here for awhile because I know some of us wanted to hold a big blow out and that might not be possible anymore. This could be a fun and meaningful alternative!
