So the other day we were out in the backyard when we noticed our daughters water table had literally about 30-40 black carpenter bees floating in it, alot were still alive - but drowning and some had already drowned. While we were looking at them another one flew over who was dry but I only saw that one and I don’t know where it came from. We poured out the water table and took it apart, looked underneath, no nest visible. So I have no idea where they came from, why there was so many and why they were all in the water.. why would they all fly into the water? I didnt think they were that stupid😝 which is why I thought it was an odd sight. I should’ve taken a picture.

Anyways hoping someone can possibly explain this to me:)
