It doesn’t sound like you guys are both on the same page and I would not go into marriage until you are. Does he never want to have children or is it just a timing or financial or whatever other reason or kids are just never in the picture for him. If this is a nonnegotiable item, of having children, this may not be the person for you.

This is the person you’ll end up spending your life with. Ideally you should both want the same things or you’ll end up unsatisfied.
