One more IUI or move to IVF
This is kind of lengthy
My medical history: one pregnancy at 18 healthy baby boy that will now be 13 next week! My now husband and I have been together for 10yrs. I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, had my left Fallopian tube removed in 2013 due to scare tissue and then an ectopic on my right in 2015. That tube was saved and a HSG showed it to be open. We have done 3 IUIs 1 the eggs were on my left, she suggested we go through because there was a chance the right tube could pick it up. The next 2 IUIs were with eggs on my right. I did femera with a trigger shot for all IUIs with progesterone following each IUI.
I have my zoom appt with my Dr today and she’s suggesting IVF because it has a better chance of pregnancy because she feels the reason the IUIs may not be working is because my anatomy could be off due to all my past issues. But she also said it could be because we aren’t getting a higher number of eggs (each cycle I had 2 follicles) so maybe doing a more aggressive cycle with injectables could work if it wasn’t because of my anatomy but that’s hard to say if that’s the reason. Prior to IVF she stated we would do 3 months medication induced menopause to give my body a rest before moving forward with the IVF and then at that point she would clip off my right Fallopian tube, do egg retrieval and then IVF. The thing I’m having the hardest time with is if we go that route, we would never be able to have more children naturally again.
I guess I’m looking for input on what all you have experienced. Do we try one more IUI with aggressive medication hoping the right side produces the eggs with increased amounts? Or do we just go to IVF.
Thanks in advance!
