Stimulus check confusion for filing joint taxes...

I’m on the IRS website and it’s telling me I’m eligible for the payment but needs some extra info. They’re asking for “adjusted gross income: the whole dollar amount from your tax return” however my husband and I filed our taxes together. Am I supposed to enter MY income or our total income?

I feel like doing my individual one makes no sense because it was combined on our tax return. However I’m concerned if I enter both our combined incomes when they only wanted mine, it’ll falsely tell me I don’t qualify (my husband and I each make $50k so if I entered $100k as our total amount but they only intended for me to enter mine alone, it would think I don’t qualify).

I’m SO CONFUSED and the FAQs are useless 😭 has anyone done this yet and what did you do?

Did you file jointly? There should be an "adjusted gross income" amount on your tax return. Thats the number they're looking for

I entered with my and my husband’s info combined and it told me we qualified! When I entered the info I did it under my social security number. Then after it told me I qualified and told me which bank account it would be going into, I tried again with my husband’s social security number and his automatically popped up with the same banking info now so it definitely connected us as a married couple even though I didn’t enter anything to say we were.

You still qualify even if you put both. The max is 139k for couples

I would put your joint income though, because you’re filing jointly.

I know, I’m just nervous because there’s nothing on this site to specify if you’re entering info for a couple or a single. So I’m nervous if I enter $100k but they think I’m entering for a single then I wouldn’t qualify

Yup! I just went on there and had the same questions! It should atleast ask if you filed jointly or something! It is so confusing! I hope it works though..

It would be the amount for both of you since you file together. They don’t start reducing the stimulus amount until a joint file of $150,000 or more.

Maybe $139,999 as someone else said. Either way, you’re under the total 😃
