😢bad appointment experience

I had my 12 weeks app few days ago and the dr told me to have full bladder I drank like 36oz of water and I know

That's how much I could handle

and when I got there the tech said it's not enough and I need to drink more she made drink another 8oz and wait 40mints 😰

I was about to peee my self 😳

When she had the stick on me I was so uncomfortable and she was pushing hard and telling me she had to do this to get the measurements she needs I understand but it also was so hard for me to relax ...and now I have to go back in 4weeks with full bladder again 🥵

An ultrasound? How odd - I did both transvaginal and transabdominal and neither required full bladder.

That’s odd. I was told when I went for my 12 week NT scan to have a full bladder but as soon as I arrived and the tech asked how far along I was, she said I could empty it. Normally its only if your really early and the baby is very low.

I only had to do that for the 20 week one, and I had to do it twice bc they didn’t get what they needed the first time, the second time they were running late and I started crying in the waiting room I had to pee so bad it was awful!

At some point a full bladder becomes unnecessary. I had over 30 ultrasounds with my first pregnancy (twins) and I only had to have a full bladder up until around 16 weeks.

They always ask me to come in with a full bladder then end up saying I can empty it. I was pretty sure it is to help find the uterus if you are plus sized.

Ive had this happen before. It’s aweful, specially when you get an asshole. With my last pregnancy she pushed so hard and wouldn’t even let me see the screen or hear the heartbeat. She was on me for less than 8 minutes. I’m sorry you experienced this but it shouldn’t be so bad next time. They say come with a full bladder but at that far along you don’t need to anymore.

That sounds awful :( for my 12 week scan I only had to drink 16 oz and the tech let me use the bathroom partway through since baby was being wiggly and I really had to pee lol!

That sounds like they were being excessive! I didn’t need to drink anything for my 12 week scan.

I had to do that at 4 weeks cuz they didn’t know how far along I was and when I was due and I had to have a full bladder it’s something they have to do and they won’t let you pee till your done. It’s not a bad experience it’s just some pleases do that.
