Toddler started pooping in bedroom
So, long story short, we started sleep training our 3 year old daughter by putting a child’s lock on her door and frequently checking on her until she falls asleep (kind of the toddler version of the Ferber method) and everything was fine. It was fine until she had a diarrhea accident on her floor a few weeks ago. Now twice since then she has straight up pooped on her floor. The first time, the door was still locked. The second time she knew the door was unlocked. She had gotten up, turned on the light, took her panties off, and straight up pooped on the floor next to her bed. Then she casually walked out to me to tell me she had done it. I had just left her room 5 minutes before this happened. Tell me someone else has gone through this. Is it a phase? Is it attention seeking? Am I ruining my kid somehow? Her next physical is in about 2 weeks, so if it keeps happening I will bring it up to her ped. I just need some insight!
**Now, before you all scold me for trying to sleep train my toddler, she wasn’t falling asleep until some time between 10 and 11 every single night. Doesn’t matter how busy I keep her or if she doesn’t take a nap. And I have a 6 month old baby that I also have to deal with. And we wake up at 5/6am. So... getting 5-6 hours of sleep at night was just not cutting it. Aaannnd sleep training had been going superbly until the diarrhea accident. And after the first poop we decided to not use the lock unless she continuously came out of her room.
