So I was just thinking about something that happened in my class in grade 11. We had a teacher, she was pretty weird lol and old. It was history class. Our teacher forced us to watch a video of young African American girls having their labias and clits removed. It was very graphic and disturbing. But her reasoning is that she is dating a man who lives in Africa and wanted to raise awareness to what these young girls in Africa have to go through. Ultimately multiple people complained and she was fired immediately. But then they decided to only lay her off so she could be able to find a job somewhere else and not be affected. Many students fought for her and said what she did wasn’t wrong, even some parents surprisingly. So what I’m wanting to know is, do you think her punishment was fair? Do you think she deserved worse or better than what she got? What should her punishment have been?

Personally I liked her as a person, she was weird of course but very nice in a hippy like way. But I think she deserved to be fired and her teaching license taken away. So many kids were traumatized by this but so many also thought of it as a joke so it’s hard to say
