Baby’s First TV?

I’ve started having my son watch “baby’s first tv” people say it’s soothing for a baby’s brain & helps them learn especially at this early age. What are your thoughts on it? Do your baby’s/toddlers watch it?

How old is your baby? Humans should not be exposed to screens at all until they reach 2 years old because of brightness, bidimensionality and unrealistic patterns that TV usually provides. I understand it is unrealistic to avoid screens completely in 21st century but it is better if it is avoided as much as possible. 
Children should develop depth perception, sensory integration of faces and human contact, things that the TV doesnt have. I once heard a pediatrician quote a study that said that for every 30minutes of screen before 2 years of age you’ll have 49% of delay in language development, which is significant. Im a clinical psychologist and in my experience children with a lot of exposure of screens usually have attention and behavior difficulties caused by sensory confusion, most problems are significantly better after eliminating TV and incrementing human contact.

Babies don't need tv, (reading teacher here) there are studies that show that screen time before age 2 can negatively affect speech and language development. From personal experience, tv and electronic toys tend to be overstimulating for babies. You're better off with music and simple toys. That being said, if you are going nuts and need break, you won't screw up your child by exposing them to TV. Parenting is very hard, and there are no hard and fast rules. Just best to avoid screen time for the most part since it doesn't do them any favors.

Vision vise I would limit any kind of screen time to an absolute minimum. Nearsightedness is a rising problem all over the world, no need to potentially start it earlier than necessary.
