Not selfish. If you only want one. You can look at ot this way. Your one baby will always have your undivided attention. You won't have to split your attention, affection and money between more than one child. That one child gets it allll.

I'm an only child (but I was a twin, only my twin died at around 17 weeks in the womb, unfortunately😔). My mom was too crushed to try for another. It was kind of lonely growing up and I would have really wanted a little brother or sister. But looking back I still had an amizing childhood.
It's not really selfish, no, 'cause I know plenty of kids who love being an only child. I guess it really depends on the kid here. It's not selfish. But I guess sometimes having a sister or brother to play with and everything can make things easier and more fun.
I do definitely undertsnad parents who don't want more than one, but personally, being an only child is one of the things I didn't want my child to be too. So now we have 4 girls and 3 other girls on the way. I guess it'll be a wild ride, but my daughters love their sisters a lot. Plus me and my husband always wanted a big fam.
I wouldn't feel guilty. Whatever you choose it's best for your kid. You know best what flows your boat and I'm not here to judge you just beacuse it's not what I chose. By all means, I'm all for it if it's what you chose.
Maybe OP just meant this hypothetically, but I mean this for any person who has ever asked themselves this question. You know best. Don't let other people tell you otherwise.

I love being an only child. My belongings were never taken or broken. I wasn’t blamed for crap that I didn’t do. There was no worrying about my privacy and fighting with my siblings. When I wanted to be social i had friends and cousins to hang out with but when I wanted to be alone I could be without disruption. It’s not a disadvantage. I don’t understand why people make it seem like a bad thing...?

Lmao no. I’m an only child and of course there were times I wished I had siblings since we never really did family vacations or anything and if we went somewhere it could get a little boring just being with my parents but I would never say they were selfish. My parents had me when they were older so I’m sure they just decided to have me and then no others due to age. Now that I’m older I’m glad I was alone honestly. I’m extremely close to my parents which I’m grateful for. I feel like it’s made me more independent and mature due to being on my own more often. Also hearing about all my friends and their siblings fighting I’m glad I got to skip out on that 😂
