Online Teaching after delivery?

I am scheduled to induce on May 2nd if baby doesn't come before then. Our schools have elected to not return and continue online teaching, so I won't have to take maternity leave since I can do online from home. Anyone else doing this? Or are you still taking your leave?

I’m planning on teaching online if my little guy comes early. He’s due the week after school gets out but if he comes early I’m planing to save my leave and continue to teach online if it is manageable. Our schools haven’t officially closed for the year so we will see if they do it not.

I thought about this as well... 2nd grade teacher here. I’m due May 19th and the last day is June 12. I decided just to take my maternity leave as planned though because the work has been pretty demanding and I don’t want to stress myself out. I don’t want to be up half the night and then have to hold a lesson with 24 students... and worry about when the baby will be hungry and if she’ll need to breastfeed when I’m teaching. I have plenty of sick days to get me through until the end of the year so my pay won’t be affected.

I am due May 4th and have decided to rescind my maternity leave and continue teaching using our distance learning platform till the end of the school year.

I am due May 18th and was planning to work up to that day but now that we are teaching online the rest of the year I also asked my principal and superintendent. They aren’t sure I will be able to do that and might make me take my maternity leave even though I want to continue teaching online. I really do not want to use up all my sick days if I don’t have to. So hopefully they allow me to continue teaching

I love seeing so many of us in the same boat!! I am due May 21st but always deliver early.  We are distance learning until May 4th but think it will continue until the 15th which is our original end date.  I have been planning/scheduling things on Google Classroom 2 weeks out at a time so I can not take leave but still do my best to get them content.

I havnt decided and I’m not due til almost the last day of school if baby waits that long. The school hasn’t made and decisions about what would happen if I do take my leave so I guess it depends on when baby comes and who can cover for me. I couldn’t keep up with assigning/ grading/ contacting as much as I do now once baby comes though but glad to hear about others in the same situation and hear what you all are doing

Our district isn’t making anyone take leave of any kind. Someone will cover my class while I’m at the hospital and for a couple days/week when I get home. But I plan on continuing with digital learning from home.

I’m so glad more are in the same boat as me - I haven’t said anything to my principal because I was somewhat concerned that I was crazy that I thought I could keep up with it all! But I was seriously considering not taking maternity leave.
Our school is doing packets due to low levels of computer access. I’m due right after the second packet goes out to families. I should just have to do emails and phone calls to answer questions and then final paperwork at the end of the year.  It just doesn’t seem like it’s going to work to have anyone else take over for those few weeks.

Due may 5th and I plan on taking 1 week total just because I want that week to be completely disconnected from work. Other than that, I plan I’m working with online instruction right after.
