YES👏🏻 I 👏🏻 F*CKING 👏🏻 AM.

YES, I know walking can help getting the baby out. Why else at 39 weeks, so heavily and uncomfortably pregnant, would I shove my swollen feet into sneakers and waddle about the block every day, sounding like Darth Vader behind my mask? (Thanks for the added fun, COVID.) And NO, we cannot control my baby’s size “by walking more”, no woman or even doctor can force an unborn baby to be born “smaller”, the baby will be whatever size she is meant to be, and she will come out when she is ready, and she will be f*cking perfect.

I now stopped replying to comments/texts from my parents and in-laws as soon as they start with the “you need to walk more!” bit. I either don’t even acknowledge they said it and change the subject immediately, or say I have to go and hang up. Why don’t I tell them I’m already walking every day and that I can’t control the baby’s size? BECAUSE I ALREADY DID. A MILLION TIMES. Again and again and again for the last few months. They must have the memory of a goldfish. Or they just don’t have anything better to offer to the conversation. NOT ONCE have people my parents’ age said anything positive or encouraging about my pregnancy, like “We can’t wait to meet the baby” or “You’re doing great, hang in there just a little more!”.

My friends and coworkers are super excited like I am (it’s my first pregnancy) and they are so so sweet and supportive... but folks from my parents’ generation are a whole nother story 🤦🏻‍♀️ All I get from them is unsolicited panicky advice like “You need to walk more or else the baby will be too big and you’ll need a c-section! Didn’t we tell you what happened to your cousin? Her baby was over 9 lbs and she had an emergency c-section and suffered miserably. You need to walk every day. Are you walking? Make sure you’re walking.”

I’m just going to stop answering their calls altogether at this point. If they’re dying to tell me the story about my cousin’s big baby again they can call my husband lol 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄 I’m done.
